As a pre-service teacher, much of the Montessori way resonates with my pedagogical approach to teaching in the classroom. I was particularly interested, when I found this post from a fellow EDC3100 student about the use of ICTs in a Montessori classroom. While my fellow students discusses the use of ICTs in an early childhood setting and expresses hesitation in using computers before the age of 6 in the interest of extrinsic versus intrinsic motivation, I’m particularly excited by the way in which the students are using the resources available to them to solve problems and produce digital stories to meed the needs of their assessment tasks. The students are given the opportunity to experiment with different text design elements to enhance their projects and influence the viewer. The students are all genuinely engaged in their learning – how beautiful!
